“Een Serenade (Sticks)” drawing – premium print

Description

This drawing of Dutch rapper Sticks was made in 2023 using charcoal pencils (B, 4B and 8B), a black watercolor pencil and a black permanent marker for the lines and text. The lines around the head following his silhouette hold words that together form the sentence “Een serenade aan het goede leven” (a serenade to the good life). These words were purposefully placed in a mixed order to demonstrate that eventhough life is not always sweet, you can still find the beauty in it.

Dutch rapper Sticks blew up as part of the trio Opgezwolle (together with Rico en Delic) in the early 2000’s. They put the city of Zwolle on the map in the hip hop scene. After the split up of Opgezwolle, Sticks stayed putting in work for his solo career. He’s without a doubt one of the greatest Dutch rappers and definitely a legend in the game.
