“The Throne part I” painting – poster print

This painting of Jay-Z was made in 2020 and is the first part of the two part artwork “The Throne”. A year later, the counter part was made portraying Ye (Kanye) West. Jay-Z is wearing a blue jacket, representing his calmness, while Ye is wearing a red jacket, representing his chaotic character. Because they’re both looking in opposite ways, when hanged together, they can eather look convergent (a team) or divergent (seperate individuals).

Jay-Z is a Brooklyn raised rapper that found fame in the 90s. He was friends with The Notorious B.I.G., had a famous beef with Queens rapper Nas and found his own label Roc-A-Fella. His hip-hop career stayed impressive after the new millennium started, where he signed Kanye West (who was then a not so famous rapper producer from Chicago). He started a family with beyonce and is considered a Hip Hop mogul. Outside of music, he also turned out to be quite the businessman, with a net worth of $2.5 Billion. It is no surprise that the famous question emerged: Would you rather have $500.000 or lunch with Jay-Z?
