Description

This drawing of Kempi was made in 2024 using charcoal pencils (B, 4B and 8B), a black watercolor pencil, white gelpen for highlights and a red coloring pencil for the bandana. The original was made for the studio of Dutch hip hop podcast Pass de Aux (Ambassade) and presented during the Kempi episode.

Kempi is one of the first gangster rappers of the Netherlands. Representing the then unknown city of Eindhoven, he took over the hip hop scene which was mostly found in Amsterdam and Rotterdam (and Zwolle). He took inspiration from his troubled life, translating it directly into original sounding music. He is still active and is considered on of the best hip hop artists the Netherlands has ever seen.
